Data Update | Smoking During Pregnancy

31 August 2017

The latest 2014-2016 figures for smoking during pregnancy have been added to the KnowFife Dataset.

Available at all geographies, this is for the indicator:

- percentage of women who smoke during pregnancy.

This relates to women's own self-reporting of smoking while booking in for ante-natal visits in the community or hospital. Although the data is as accurate as can be, the self-reporting nature means there may be some discrepancy at the time of gathering the data and care should be taken interpreting the results.

The Fife figure remains higher than the national level. In Fife the figure has dropped to 21.2% compared with the 2012-2014 figure 22.1. While in Scotland the figure has dropped from 17.8 to 16.8.

To view the latest figures and compare to previous years, they can be viewed in a in a 5 year data table here for Fife's Wards.

They are also available in the General health profile along with a range of indicators for all geographies and areas in Fife. You can view the Wards profile here and change the geography or area using the drop down menus.
