Data Update | Health | Low Birth Weight

22 November 2016

The latest combined 3 year figures for 2013-2015 and 2012-2014, for Low Birth Weight Babies has been added to the KnowFife Dataset. These are available under the Theme health and Wellbeing under the topic Child Health and Maternity and Births.

Low birth weight refers to babies born at full term who weigh less than 2500g.

This includes, at all geographies the indicators:

- number of live singleton births;
- number of low weight live singleton births (under 2500g)
- % singleton live births under 2500g.

The percentage of singleton live births under 2500g continues to fall for Fife as a whole. The last 5 data points by Area committee can be viewed by clicking this link.

Similarly, the figures have updated in the General Health Profile, with an example here at Fife's Interzones. You can select a different geography or area from the drop down menus.
