1.1. Introduction

The menu on the left side of the page allows you to access the different modules of the website.

You do not need to login to the system in order to access the modules. If you want to be able to save your own selection of geographic areas in the system you will need to be a registered user of the KnowFife Dataset. If you are prompted to login, then enter the user name and password you chose when you registered. In general your user name will be your email address. If you have forgotten your password then click the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link – your password will be emailed to you.

The left-hand menu provides direct links to different modules within the site. Some or all of the modules below will be available:

·         Data Dictionary: a discovery module that allows you to search metadata to locate data, and profiles

·         Quick Profiles: this module allows you to choose a report with static text, data values, tables, charts or images relating to a particular area.

·         Area Profiles: this module is a wizard for generating a report with static text, data values, tables, charts or images for a custom selection of areas.

·         Thematic Maps: a module for viewing pre-defined groups of data using tables or interactive Flash atlases.

·         Pick and Mix: this module is a wizard for generating custom selection of indicators that can be viewed using tables, charts and maps or downloaded.

The icons on this page give access to the modules in the same way as the left-hand menu.
