New data - Child Poverty Estimates
New child poverty estimates have been published by HMRC, http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/stats/personal-tax-credits/child_poverty.htm

This data is now available in the KnowFife Dataset.

The figures show the proportion of children living in families in receipt of out of work benefits or in receipt of tax credits where their reported income is less than 60 per cent of median income. This is the first time the figures will cover Scotland, although they have been published in previous years for England. It is an attempt to recreate the relative child poverty measure set out in the Child Poverty Act 2010 at a local level. However as it relies on administrative data it is not precisely equivalent in terms of the children captured (for example there may be children in families in receipt of out of work benefits where income is above the 60% threshold). It is thought by Child Poverty Unit and HMRC to be the best measure of child poverty at local level.

SIMD09+2 - Annual update to Income and Employment Domains
The second set of annual updates to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) employment and income domains was published on 27 October 2011:

    http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/SIMD/AnnualUpdates.

The SIMD is usually updated every 3 years. SIMD 2009 v2 (as published in July 2010) remains the primary source of data on small area concentrations of multiple deprivation. The next update is likely to be published in late 2012. Users of SIMD have requested more frequent updates for the income and employment domains to monitor, in particular, the effects of the economic downturn.
